Junior Copywriter

A Junior Copywriter at Push is expected to help conceptualizing creative ideas and write smart, compelling, on-brand copy for our clients under the guidance of senior level creatives. Their primary task is writing copy for the ongoing deliverables for our clients, but they also get to work on larger projects such as mass media campaigns and new business pitches. Junior Copywriters also participate in the production process of their projects when possible to ensure the highest quality creative work is produced. Knowledge of, and interest in, restaurants, higher education, healthcare and retail product sales is a plus.

Junior Copywriters at Push must have:

  • A strong creative portfolio or work examples. Big ideas. Great writing.
  • Writing experience. Preferably in an agency setting, but not mandatory.
  • Words. Good ones. Memorable ones. Clever ones.
  • Ideas. Fresh, creative and uninhibited thinking.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow.
  • The ability to listen and take direction.
  • The ability to work well with others. Specifically art directors, other writers and account people.
  • Presentation skills. Must be able to present work internally and externally.
  • Design skills and knowledge—a plus. Design interest and appreciation—a must.
  • A self-starter personality. Works independently as needed and doesn’t wait for others to gain understanding or generate ideas.
  • A team-minded mentality. Looks out for others and helps out as needed. With and without being asked.
  • Dedication. Down for the occasional late night or weekend work if the project or situation warrants it.
  • Curiosity. Must want to learn more about projects/assignments/clients and ask questions without hesitation.
  • Enthusiasm for pop culture. Keeps eyes and ears to the street and the interwebs to know what’s happening in the world.
  • Other interests. Travels. Has hobbies. Goes to concerts. Has interests and life experiences outside of work that improves skills, approaches and mood at work.
  • An open mind. The occasional F-bombs get dropped. Tequila shots get taken. Beers get drunk. While no one has to partake in these endeavors, they happen. Don’t hate them.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure. Must be able to keep a cool head when things heat up.
  • Time management skills. Knows how to use a calendar, respect schedules and hit deadlines.
  • A sense of humor. Doesn’t have to be a stand up comedian, but should enjoy laughing at things, including themselves.
